THE management of National Inland Waterways Authority, (NIWA), Lokoja Kogi state, has denied the allegation of any involment in a 4 billion naira worth of fraudulent and non-existing projects.
In a statement on behalf of the management, and signed by Tayo Fadile, General Manager, Cooperate Affairs in Lokoja, said that the allegation was not a reflection of the position of the House committee on National Inland Waterways of the National Assembly.
The statement which reads in part said “Our attention has been drawn to various publications including social media platforms, alleging that NIWA was involved in a 4billion naira worth of fraudulent/non-existing projects.
“This is not true and does not reflect the position of the House Committee on Inland Waterways of the National Assembly.
“The National freight office at Idi Iroko, Ogun State has absolutely nothing to do with NIWA.
“The Honourable Minister of Transportation, Honourable Minister of State, Transportation and the MD of NIWA attended the Budget defence and these allegations never arose.
Fadile added that any further inquiry over this matter should be referred to the House Committee on Inland Waterways for further clarification.
