THE Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole has emphasized on the need for Nigerians to truly defend the unity and uphold the sanctity of the nation in line with their pledge of allegiance to the country by being patriotic in all their dealings.
In his 60 years anniversary of thecountry, the speaker in a press statement congratulates Nigerians in general and Kogites in particular on the 60th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria as a Sovereign state and tasked Nigerians to be patriotic in building a nation that will can truly called our own
The Speaker commended the efforts of the founding fathers, urged those in positions of authority to endeavour to build on the solid foundation to work in unity and have love for the nation for the country to take its rightful position among the comity of nations.
He appealed to Nigerians to keep hope alive despite the numerous challenges that are confronting the nation at the moment especially in the area of security, infrastructure deficit and the current global pandemic of coronavirus, stressing that, with unity of purpose those challenges will be overcome.
Speaker Kolawole enjoined the younger generation who are the leaders of tomorrow to shun every negative tendencies and cultivate virtues of patriotism, commitment and dedication in serving the country diligently.
He congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Yahaya Bello, for their purposeful leadership at improving the living standards of Nigerians despite numerous challenges facing the nation.
He noted that despite the dwindling resources occasioned by the fall of the nation major sources of revenue, coupled with outbreak of coronavirus early this year the administrations at both the national and state still have some credit in the area of Education, health, security, infrastructures like the rail, roads and many transformation in critical sectors of the nation economy.
The Speaker assured that the 7th Assembly of the Kogi State House of Assembly would continue to work in collaboration with other arms of government for the common good of the state and advised citizens to remain steadfast and courageous to overcome adversity as a People.
He called on all and sundry to continue to support the current administrations at both the national and state level as that is the only way we can encourage to be steadfast in providing good leadership.
