The Governing Board of the National Examinations Council (NECO) has approved the appointment of Ebikibina John Ogborodi as the Acting Registrar/Chief Executive of the Council of the body.
This came two days after the former registrar, Godswill Obioma died after a brief illness.
This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday, June 3, by the NECO spokesperson, Azeez Sani.
Sani stated that until his appointment, Mr. Ogborodi was the Director Special Duties in the Council.
He said the Acting Registrar’s appointment was endorsed by the NECO Governing Board at its emergency meeting held on 2nd June, 2021.
“Mr. Ogborodi’s appointment was as a result of his being the most Senior Director in the Council. The Circular stated that all activities of the Council are to continue unabated as earlier planned. He hails from Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.”
“He obtained his first Degree from University of Jos in 1986 and a Master Degree in Learning Disability from the same university in 1999.”
“The Acting Registrar joined the service of NECO in 1999 and had served in different capacities.”
“He was a former Acting Director, Examination Development Department; Acting Director, Office of the Registrar; Director, General Services and Director, Human Resource Management among others.”
Meanwhile, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Matthew Hassan Kukah, on Wednesday, June 2, criticised the Federal Government over its handling of the security situation across the country.
Kukah made this call during his sermon at Our Lady of Apostles Catholic Church, Independence Way, Kaduna at the obsequies of late Rev Fr. Alphonsus Yasshim Bello who was kidnapped and murdered on 21 May by suspected bandits.
