The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi says his mandate in the institution is to begin a College of Medicine at the Temporary Site of the University and to improve on quality of Teaching and Learning.
The Vice Chancellor equally disclosed that towards making the College of Medicine a reality, the University intends taking over the Federal Medical Center, Lokoja, advised contractors looking for jobs to interface with TETFUND Office Abuja for contract as he would not want to be distracted.
The Vice Chancellor sounded the warning to contractors and unveiled some plans for the institution at a reception ceremony organized in his honour by Committee of Friends in Lokoja, pledged his determination to make the University the first of its kind among the Universities in the Country.
Prof. Akinwumi reiterated his commitment to run an all inclusive administration that will ensure its rapid growth and development advised contractors seeking jobs to visit the TETFUND Office for contract, stressing that he is not a contractor and that his major concern would be to ensure admission for citizens and improved quality of Teaching and Learning for students.
The Vice Chancellor described the reception as a surprise, lauded his the efforts of his friends and well wishers for the opportunity to honour him, promised to justify the confidence reposed on him by improving the ranking of the FUL .
Prof. Akinwumi said while he looks forward to doing the best that he can to reposition the FUL as one of the top University’s in the country, says he looks forward to a return to the Nasarawa State University, where he hopes to retire.
Prof. Akinwumi who is the third Vice Chancellor of the ten year old University described Nasarawa State University as home, said the because of the opportunity the Institution has offered him, would want to retire at the Institution.
According to the Professor of History says his primary goal is value addition to the FUL stated that his mission is make the FUL, best among the nine newly-established Federal universities and one of the 10-top ranking universities in Africa.
