Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has reacted to the death of Iniubong Umoren, the young lady that was declared missing in Akwa-Ibom State a few days ago.
According to a family source, Umoren was defiled, killed and buried in a shallow grave in Akwa Ibom.
The young graduate was declared missing on 29th of April 2021, shortly after she left home for a job interview at an undisclosed location on Airport Road in Uyo. She reportedly dropped a short voice note to her friend on WhatsApp which showed she was in danger. Her friend called immediately and heard her scream, her phone stop going for that moment.
Her friend raised alarm on social media which led to the arrest of the suspect by the police. The suspect initially denied involvement in the case, he later confessed to the police that he defiled, killed and buried her in a shallow grave.
In reaction to the sad news, Bukola Saraki said: “I’ve been following the #FindHinyHumoren hashtag closely over the past couple of days and I am extremely devastated that young Miss Iniobong Umoren, who simply set out to find a job, was raped and murdered.”
“At this particularly difficult time, my prayers are with her family and all her friends who kept this topic on the front burner over the last couple of days. I hope the perpetrators of this despicable act are swiftly tried and sentenced.”
Many Nigerians on social media have called upon the Government to ensure the lady get justice by sentencing her abductor to death as soon as possible.
