After its monthly meeting in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) meeting point, the members of TAFCT have chosen to express their concern regarding the continuous suspension of the new minority leaders and others of the PDP of the 9th Assembly.
The suspension which has lasted since 5th of July 2019 is worrisome to us and if allowed to continue will only lead to negative consequences for our great party as we prepare for the upcoming gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa and Kogi states.
We will like to first of all salute our National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus and his National Working Committee members, the PDP Board of Trustees (BOT) and all members for a job well done as regards the success recorded by our party in the last general elections as well as the ongoing effort towards reclaiming our presidential mandate at the tribunal.
Mr Chairman, as a coalition of young professionals under the umbrella of the aforementioned group who are committed to the development and growth of our dear party, we want to ensure that we defend the principles of internal democracy which is built on fair hearing.
The suspended members of our party were not given fair hearing and we are therefore using this medium to passionately appeal to you to use your good office to immediately call off this suspension so as to ensure that we save our party from a crisis that is clearly a display of oversight.
The suspension of this newly elected House of Reps members in our opinion is an overkill of some sort as the laid down procedure of suspending an erring member was not followed.
Chairman Sir, we beckon on you to expedite the process to call off the suspension of this members in the next few days so that they can settle down to work as the minority leadership of the house.
Sir, we all need to understand that PDP is not the only minority political party in the House of Representatives and as such if we must play the defined role of opposition aptly as the majority in the minority we must be seen to exist above parochial interests and party politics in matters that require a broader approach beyond party lines.
We also request that you use this opportunity to harness our gains from the last elections towards building a harmonious relationship with all newly elected party members across the country. This will go a long way in resolving our differences internally using the appropriate conflict resolution mechanisms.
We therefore are looking forward to the recall from suspension of the under-listed party members –
1) Hon.Ndudi Elumelu
2) Hon. Toby Okechukwu
3) Hon. Gideon Gwani
4) Hon. Adekoya Abdul-Majid
5) Hon. Wole One
6) Hon. Lynda Ikpeazu
7) Hon. Anayo Edwin
Thank you once again for your understanding and anticipated corporation.
