There are strong indications that the current Administrators in the 21 Local Government Areas of the state are working hard for Governor Yahaya Bello to endorse them as the prefer candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) despite many of them perform woefully since they assumed duty in 2016.
A socio-political group known as The Voice of the Grassroots has alleged that the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja who played critical role in appointing them while he was the Chief of Staff to the Governor, is doing everything possible to convince the Governor to nominate them as the party candidate.
The group in a press statement signed by the spoke person of the group Mr. Taiwo Moses which was made available to some newsmen in Lokoja also accused Hon, Idris Asiru, Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning of conniving with the administrators.
The statement also alleged that some top govt functionaries name withheld normally collect kickback from all the 21 local government councils administrators in order to retains their office.
They noted that some of the Administrators are already engaging the services of spiritualists and top members of the new direction adminstration to get the Governor to buy into the project not minding the interest of the electorates.
“Some political analysts who praised the benevolence spirit of Governor Yahaya Bello who know how to reward good for good said the Governor has used the last four years to reward the loyalty and support most of the Administrators gave to him in 2015, hence it is time for him to allow the people to elect those they think is capable to transform the LGAs in the state,’ the statement added.
According to them, it is now a known facts that Governor Yahaya Bello is ready for governance following some critical steps he has taken to repositioned the state, stressing that his decision to appoint his Commissioners on the day of his inauguration shows that its not going to be business as usual.
“Looking at the vigue at which the governor is handling the affairs of the state, it may be impossible for some of the Administrators who have turned themselves to tin god to catch up with the reality of the new direction adminstration this time around.
“For the Governor to have peace of mind and avoid unnecessary controversy, he should allow the people to elect those that have the capacity to deliver not the paddy paddy way it was handled in 2016.
“If feelers from various local govts is anything to go bye, then it will be a tall dreams for some of the Administrators to return elected as majority of the electorates including APC Executives and members are prepared for a showdown with some of them.
“Following the majority demand and the popular call by the people at the grassroots for the Administrators to step down as it is novel for an appointed person in the local govt to remain in office for four years even more than the statutory three years tenure allowed.
“It may be very difficult for the APC as a party to win in some local govt considering the conducts of some of the Administrators whose woeful performances has a far reaching effects on the party in the last elections.
Lokoja, Idah, Ankpa, Dekina, Bassa, Yagba East, Yagba West, Ofu are case study,” the statement said.
