Senator Dino Melaye on Tuesday said that last year his house was under police siege and was taken into police detention.
In a statement issued which copy was made available to newsmen as he celebrate his birthday, he noted that birthday comes once a year and you don’t know if it’s going to happen the next year too or not. So, one should really be grateful for every birthday for being alive and for getting the opportunity to celebrate it.
The statement read thus, “today I am grateful for a life spent in grace and favour as I celebrate one of the most special days of my life.
“As the years go by leaving their marks and memories, I begin to realise how beautiful and blissful a life it is.
“God has been kind and merciful to me in all these years. Today, I thank Him for adding another year to my life. Praying for my life to be showered by happiness in abundance!
“I pray to God that he grants me many more joyous occasions like this. It is only by His grace that I’m living this beautiful life – the evidences are not far-fetched.
“Last year, my house was under police siege from Friday, December 28, 2018 to Friday, January 4, 2019. Subsequently, I was taken into police detention from January 4, 2019 to Tuesday, January 22, 2019, just because of my political views. I and my family members weren’t a free people to celebrate the New Year and my birthday in 2019.
“Therefore, on this special occasion of my life, I pray for nothing else than the continued guidance of God in everything I do and every path I take.
