The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), in collaboration with Equity Promotion Ltd., has organized a sensitization workshop towards a successful October 19, 2024 elections in the state.
While opening the workshop in Lokoja, the Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Mamman Nda Eri, emphasized that the initiative is part of KOSIEC’s commitment to promoting a fair, transparent, and effective electoral process for the upcoming local government elections.
He underscored the importance of equipping the Commission and stakeholders with the knowledge and strategies necessary to ensure smooth and successful elections.
Hon. Eri also highlighted that the workshop would provide valuable insights into global electoral best practices, address potential challenges, and foster collaboration among all stakeholders.
He urged participants to stay committed to an electoral process that reflects the shared values of democracy and integrity within the state.
The workshop featured insightful presentations by Barr. Bamidele Suru, Provost of the Leadership Integrity Forum in Abuja, Dr. Abraham Musa Peter, Associate Professor of Political Science at the Federal University, Lokoja, and Dr. Tosin Ayo, Associate Professor at Ekiti State University.
A key highlight of the discussions was the call for the Kogi State Government to broaden the scope of the state’s electoral laws and to allocate dedicated funding to KOSIEC for its administrative and management development.
