Ahead of the November election, Kogi West leaders across divides, on Sunday, met with Governor Yahaya Bello to discuss issues relating to the district.
This meeting between the All Progressives Congress governorship Candidate, Gov Yahaya Bello and the leaders of Kogi West senatorial district, anchored by the Director General Bello/Onoja Campaign Organisation, Senator Smart Adeyemi, is coming on the heels of media onslaught deriding the bridge-building efforts.
The meeting was coming after three attempts by the Director General Bello/Onoja Campaign Organisation towards garnering total supports for a comfortable victory of All Progressive Congress in the November governorship election.
Senator Smart Adeyemi opened the floor by thanking Gov. Yahaya Bello for granting the audience based on his request to interact with Kogi West leaders.
According to a media practitioner, who was within the vicinity of the meeting, Sen Adeyemi revealed the identities of the prominent personalities there present and called them the “creme de la creme” from Kogi West of today. He lauded Bello’s unprecedented performance as Governor of Kogi State.
The DG Campaign stated that Gov. Bello has done more than enough to deserve a second term in office, stressing the governor’s zeal to see a united Kogi state with no affiliation to gender, religious or ethnic favouritism.
He extolled the virtues of Gov Bello as he prioritizes development through electrification of many communities of age-long in wilderness, construction of roads abandoned by the previous administrations, institutionalising a roadmap for sustainable educational system in the state.
In their different capacities as community, opinion and religious leaders across the three federal constituencies that made up of Kogi West Senatorial district, the leaders saluted the courage of Kogi State Governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello, his sterling style of good governance and for sitting development oriented project in their axis.
Speaking on behalf of the leaders, Gen. Oshanupin lauded the giant stride of Gov Bello’s government by establishing a humongous project in Ejiba, Kogi West Senatorial district. He described the Rice Mill project as a venture that will transform the entire area to an economically developed arena.
The meeting which paraded arrays of personalities from Kogi West geographical coordinate which incude retired Military Generals, Professionals, Business Tycoons and Leaders of Sociocultural Associations, lasted for 3 hours.
Among the contentious requests made by the Kogi West Leaders are; power shift after Governor Yahaya Bello’s second tenure, improvement on the prompt payment of salaries and pensions for both the State and Local Government workers; provision of infrastructural facilities, roads, equipment for Hospitals across the senatorial zone and the need to decentralise Kogi State University by sitting multi Campuses at the Central and Western Senatorial districts of Kogi State, since the State and Local Governments funds is used to manage the state’s highest institute of academic learning.
Responding, Gov. Bello said he is thankful for the visit of the Kogi West Leaders and their readiness to fight for a just course which is the strong determination to ensure his comfortable reelection bid come November 16th.
Gov. Bello explained how Sen Dino Melaye obstructed the chance of Kogi State from benefiting from the Federal Government 11 Billion Naira intervention fund set aside to fix the dilapidating federal roads in some states.
He further sought God to see him through in all spheres of governance.
The dignitaries present at the meeting were not limited to members of All Progressive Congress. They include Gen. David Jemibewon, Gen. A.B Momoh, Col Toba, the traditional ruler of Tawari, Barr. Bayo Ojo (SAN) former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Federation; Sen Smart Adeyemi, the Bello/Onoja Campaign Manager; National President Okun Development Association, Barr. Mokikan; Engr Emman Ako, Gen Oshanupin, Mr Dankunle, Admiral Ajayi, Mr Dehinde and Dr Adewumi.
