The Kogi State Police Commissioner, CP Idirisu Dauda Dabban on Tuesday confirmed the kidnapping of the mother of the Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor Pharmacist Abdulkarim Jamiu Asuku at her residence in Adavi Local Government Areas of the State.
Some unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted the woman at about 7:40p.m on Monday shortly after she observed evening (Ishai) prayer in her mosque within the house.
A resident of Inese/Ovakere new layout in Nagazi community, Adavi LGA where the mother of the chief of staff Mrs Seriya Raji resided told our correspondent that the gunmen storm her resident at about 7:40p.m on Monday shortly after she observed evening (Ishai) prayer in her mosque within the house.
The abductors according to the source were six in number, dressed in black suites with masks holding Ghana Must Go bag suspected to have contained some guns and other dangerous weapons stormed her resident on Monday night.
It was gathered that they entered her house through the mosque and whisk her away to yet to be identified destination using the car they brought to the her.
As at the time of filing this report the abductors were yet to call the family members if their victim to demand for ransom.
However, confirming the incident, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police CP Idirisu Dauda Dabban said it was true that the woman was kidnapped on Monday night.
According to him, his men are already in Kogi Central to apprehend the suspected kidnappers.
He added that his men have combed the entire central senatorial district and border towns in Edo with a view to rescue the mother of the Chief of Staff kidnapped on Monday evening.
The Commissioner assured that the command will not rest on its oars until the abductors are apprehended and the victim rescued, and charged all the Divisional Police Officers to be proactive in the search and rescue operation.
