Deputy governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Honourable Habiba Mohammed Deen, has hailed the decision of Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal which on Wednesday nullified the victory of Senator Abubakar Ohere as winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial election.
To this end, she commended the decision of the Tribunal declaring Natasha Akpoti- Uduagan as the actual winner of the February Senatorial election in Kogi Central.
The Tribunal Chairman, Justice K. A. Orjiako who read the unanimous judgment of the 3-man panel, said Ohere’s results were inflated in 9 polling units of Ajaokuta LGA while that of Natasha was intentionally reduced in the same 9 polling units by the INEC Ward Collation officers.
In a statement, the PDP deputy governorship candidate said the regaining of Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan Senate seat is a victory for democracy and Nigeria women.
“In today’s Nigeria politics women are no more a push over. We are ready to take our rightful positions politically. Today’s Tribunal judgement has further shown that era of elections rigging is over”, she said
She added that, “the judges on the panel of the Tribunal must be commended for doing their job without fear or favour, noting that, the Judges were fearless in handling the election petition. This is victory for democracy and Nigeria women “.
