The member representing Yagba in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Jimoh Omiata is dead.
Omiata who hailed from Igbagun community in Yagba Local Government of the state was a two term members of the state House of Assembly; and the first person to ever win election twice to the House from the council area.
A nephew who confirmed his dead said the state Lawmaker died in Lagos while still recuperating from an undisclosed illness he has been battling with for a while.
Meanwhile, Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly and the incoming member to represent Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency by the grace of God, Rt. Hon. Kolawole Olushola Matthew, has expressed shocked and sadness over the demise of one of his dependable colleagues Honourable Member representing Yagba East State Constituency, Hon Musa Jimoh Omiata, whose death occurred yesterday after prorated illness.
In a statement issued by Olugbemi Femi, the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, the Speaker said it is devastating to lose such a dependable, vibrant and articulate lawmaker whose robust contributions to the lawmaking sector in the state cannot be over emphasized, described his death at this critical time as a monumental loss to the legislative arm of Kogi state, the nation and humanity at large.
The Speaker said words failed him to describe Hon. Musa Jimoh in the real sense of it, stressing that he is one of the vibrant lawmakers that used to give a robust and meaningful contributions on the floor of the assembly.
It is on this note that Rt. Hon. Kolawole O. Matthew, on behalf of his family, the people of Kabba/Bunu State Constituency, members, management and staff of the State Assembly wish to commiserate with his beloved wife, children, other immediate family members, Alu Traditional Council, the people of Yagba East Constituency over the death of our beloved brother, father, grandfather, political and community leader, Hon Musa Jimoh, prayed that God will grant him eternal rest.
