The plan by Admiral Usman Jibril,(APC) led- coalition to unseat Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello received a massive boost as Alhaji Abubakar Rajab, a grassroot politician defected to Admiral Usman Jibril( Rtd) camp.
Rajab who hails from Dekina local government, which is adjudged to be the largest Local Government, is a close associate of Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho the incumbent senator representing Kogi East.
The APC chieftain in a shocking move had announced his defection as supporter of Gov Bello’s second term bid after he met with the APC Governorship aspirant, Rtd Usman Jibril and other top members of his Campaign Council led by it Chairman, Mr Daniel Isah in Abuja.
Addressing newsmen earlier in the today, Rajab said he was compelled to defect in view of “the recent developments and political realities of present-day Kogi State as well as the dictates of the movement.”
“All efforts made to make the present administration adjust proved abortive, as they refused to amend, I’ve no option than to join the matured minds and progressive oriented aspirant who would rescue the state from bad governance “, he said.
He pointed out further that the decision to joined the progressives camp led by Retired Admiral Usman Jibril, was reached after wide consultation with family, friends and associates adding that as a grassroot politician who worked assiduously to dethroned PDP Government in 2015 it’ll be a disastrous to remain in a sinking boat.
“We promised the people of Kogi state good governance, payment of salaries, provision of infrastructures, but all efforts made to make the occupants of Lugard House adjust proved abortive, I need to join forces with all my supporters as people of integrity to effect a positive change.”. he said
The present reality in Kogi state now is there’s a powerful coalition among stakeholders and leaders of APC in the state who vowed that Governor Bello didn’t deserve a second tenure owing to his abysmal performance which he said nothing to write home about.
