Women from Kogi Central under the FAWWASS platform have purchased the ₦20 million All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination Form for former Governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello, ahead of the 2027 Kogi Central Senatorial election.

The gesture, described as a demonstration of loyalty and confidence in the former governor’s leadership, signals growing political momentum around his possible return to elective office.

Representatives of the group said the decision was driven by a shared belief in Bello’s capacity, experience, and track record, noting that he remains well-positioned to represent Kogi Central at the National Assembly.

Speaking through its President, Hajia Barikisu Ohunene Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf, FAWWASS described Bello as a transformational leader whose administration recorded strides in infrastructure, education, youth empowerment, healthcare, agriculture, and security.

The group also highlighted his efforts in women inclusion and provision of basic amenities such as potable water across communities in Kogi State.

The women further commended the current administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, noting that his government is consolidating on the foundations laid by Bello through policies centered on inclusiveness and sustainable development.

FAWWASS also paid tribute to its founder, Chief Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijjani Onumoko, Kogi State Accountant-General, describing her as a symbol of discipline and women empowerment. The group praised her role in grassroots mobilization and encouraging women’s participation in governance.

On behalf of the group, Mrs. Salihu Abisetu Ozioma reaffirmed FAWWASS’s commitment to mobilizing support across Kogi Central to ensure victory in the 2027 elections. She urged stakeholders and party loyalists to unite behind what she described as a collective push for continuity and effective representation.

“This is not merely the purchase of a form, but a symbol of our trust, hope, and collective resolve to see a leader with proven capacity return to serve,” the group said.

Reacting, Bello expressed gratitude to the women for what he described as a significant show of support and confidence.

“I am deeply humbled and sincerely grateful for this remarkable demonstration of love and loyalty,” he said, adding that the gesture represents a call to greater service and responsibility.

He acknowledged the role of women in the development of Kogi Central, describing them as critical stakeholders whose support and sacrifices continue to shape the region’s progress.

The former governor also commended Governor Ododo for sustaining the vision of inclusive governance in the state, while assuring the people of his commitment to purposeful representation.

Bello called on stakeholders to remain united and focused on peace, development, and collective advancement as preparations gradually build toward the 2027 elections.
