A commercial driver that was recently kidnapped along Mokwa road Niger state simply identified as Taofeek has been released by his abductors.
Taofeek was abducted along with other nine passengers travelling to New-Bussa, in Niger State on the 1st of February 2020.
His abductors had earlier demanded N1m before he could be released which was later reduced to N500,000.
A family source who spoke to this medium while the victim was still in the den of the abductors, one Mr Isiaq Olojede, said they negotiated with the kidnappers until the ransom was reduced.
The chairman, Abuja-Suleja Chapel at the Maraba motor park, Ilorin Mr Olayinka Mogaji confirmed the release of the driver to this medium on Monday evening, through a phone conversation.
Mogaji said the kidnappers collected four hundred thousand naira N400,000 and 5 cartoons of cigarettes from the victims family before they could release him.
According to him: ” We are happy that the drive had returned to the park safely. The kidnappers collected the sum of N400,000 and they also asked us to buy five cartoons of cigarettes, which we did, before they later released him.
“The condition they gave us is even better. Some victims families were asked to buy packs of Tramadol before they can release theirs people.
