AFTER the defeat of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the last Kogi Governorship election by the All Progressive Congress (APC), the immediate past member who represented Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representative from 2011 to 2019,
Hon Karimi Sunday Steve, has formally announced his withdrawal of Membership from the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).
In a statement he personally signed, Hon. Karimi says the withdrawal of his membership of the PDP is with immediate effect.
Hon. Karimi was a founding member of the PDP in 1998, once served as the State Deputy Chairman of the Party.
The former lawmaker defected from PDP to ACN and won the House of Representative seat under ACN in 2011, but later returned to the PDP, a platform with which he also won the 2015 election.
Hon. Karimi aspired for election into the Senate in 2019 but was disqualified by the PDP from contesting the primaries along with others in a very strange circumstances.
Though he took the PDP to court then, Hon. Karimi was later prevailed upon to abandon the court processes, which he did, and vehemently worked tirelessly for the party using his resources to ensure victory for the Senatorial Candidate in 2019.
When interviewed on his next political move, Hon. Karimi promised to hand over his membership card to his Ward, assuring that he would soon make public his decision about his political future very soon.
There are however very strong indication that Hon. Karimi may return to the APC, a party formed by a coalition of ACN, a party he once belong with other parties in 2015.
