The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 178 suspects in Kano metropolis for violating the law against street begging declared by the state Governor, Dr Abdulahii Ganduje in the wake of the Corona virus outbreak.
The Governor in a bid to control the deadly disease outbreak and to stop the increase in the out of school children roaming the streets begging for alms made the order earlier this year.
The arrest was made on Monday along Alu Avenue, Dan’agundi, Taludu, Race Course, Sharada, Kofar Mazugal, Kano, Kano state Nigeria.
Mr Harun Ibn-Sina, the Commander-General of the board, made this known in an interview with the news men in Kano on Monday.
The religious corps have been in the news for many reasons this year. They were said to have gone on an house to house search of Sinners in late November.
They were also reported to have gone on a destruction spree, destroying several crates of beers and demolishing beer parlors across some northern states in late last month.
