Igala community in Kaduna State has expressed concern over the state of security, saying innocent people are being killed and kidnapped daily in Kogi State.
Chairman of the Elders Council of Igala community, Alhaji Shuaibu Ahmadu, who made the observation in Kaduna, condemned the state of affairs and urged Governor Yahaya Bello to rise to the occasion by being proactive like his Kaduna State counterpart.
He also noted that the absence of an elder statesman of Igala descent that commands respect and is able to chart a common political front has contributed immensely to the woes of the Igala nation.
“We do not have any political elder statesman who commands the respect of all Igala people both at home and in the diaspora to chart a common political course as was done previously by the late Dr.Stephen Achema; and this has affected the political fortunes of the Igala people as shown in the last governorship election,” he lamented.
Ahmadu also said the insecurity in Kogi East has become unbearable and called on all concerned to unite and confront the situation, as the responsibility should not be left for government alone.
Ahmadu, who is also the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Al-Furqan Islamic Foundation, lamented the absence of a fatherly figure to galvanise the political fortunes of Igala people as Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is doing for the South-West.
He said Al-Furqan decided to seek God’s intervention through fasting and fervent prayers recently, urging Igala people not to remain indifferent to the negative happenings in Kogi East.
