How Imaan’s Refugee Commission ‘Operation Zero Hunger’ To ‘Project Zero Hunger’ Is Geared Towards A Virile Society.

Penultimate on assumption of duty in June this year,the new helms woman, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim in her determination to redirect the Refugees Commission with a view to carrying out it’s statutory functions efficiently and effectively rejigged some of it’s programs particularly the ‘Operation Zero Hunger’ hitherto to ‘Project Zero Hunger’ to ensure it deliver on it’s mandate to the vulnerable Nigerians.
Her decision to change the nomenclature was to give the program a wider perspective not only as an intervention policy,but a project that is desiring a more wider scope in view of the dynamics of humanitarian activities and crises across Nigeria and the globe.
This is in line with the best practices across the globe and the endorsement of the international partners and organisation particularly the United Nations High Commission for Humanitarian Rights UNCHR.
Therefore,it is also tilted towards giving a major attention to the vulnerable in the society, ranging from the IDPs,POC’s,women andchildren, the less privileged as well as the critical ones desiring attention.
Rather than reducing the volumes of distribution of items from Rice, Beans, and other essentials,the new program will rather triple the chain of distribution of food items, to avoid further humanitarian crises but solutions.
The haphazard nature of the ‘Operation Zero Hunger’ that was to the advantage of some few opportuned ones,is now redirected genuinely for the purpose intended by the new commision under the leadership of Honorable Federal Commissioner (HFC), Hajiya Imaan Suleiman- Ibrahim.
The new ‘Project Zero Hunger’ will deliver on the mandate of the government,the international communities,sister donor agencies, voluntary organisations, corporate bodies,partners,public spirited individuals to the expectations of all the stakeholders within and outside the shores of Nigeria.
Since human wants and desire are insatiable and often not to the expectations of the vulnerable groups, The Refugees commision must not only be seen to be improving on the template of distribution of items and provision of relief materials to households,but to the expectations and desire of the IDPs POC’s, Refugees,Returnees and other exposures.
The new ‘Project Zero Hunger’ will aside provide more relief materials to households expand the scope and contributions from donor agencies and other privileged groups whose intention was construed on the previous handlers.
The positive developement had begun to pay off with the contributions and donations of items to the vulnerable improved beyond the agency’s efforts in collaboration with the Defence, Police Officers Wives Association POWA.
Since humanitarian crises had taken a dramatic turn with the threat of insurgency,banditry, kidnappings,with both natural and artificial phenomenon not only in Nigeria,but across the globe, the need to rejuvenate, redirect and rejig the current template became desiring.
With determination and inline with the primacy of it’s mandate,the new Refugees Commission is determined to do anything administratively possible to match words with actions to avoid degeneration of the current critical situations.
The strategic program of constant inspection of IDPs both within and outside the seat of government had assisted in great measure to address issues within and the returnees into our fold.
These possible development had gone beyond provision of the basic way of living and survival, but will gradually moved towards meaningful engagements of IDPs into various ventures, that will sustain them both within and outside the IDP camps.
The new order targeted at the vulnerable is gradually reflecting official engagements of staffers towards providing the neccessary human and material assistance as well as wherewithal towards the success of the new ‘Project Zero Hunger.’
