The Secretariat of the Kogi State governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) Muritala Yakubu Ajaka was on Sunday morning attacked by some suspected hoodlums.
The Secretariat which is located along Pata market in Lokoja was vandalised as some suspected hoodlums burnt down the banners of President Armed Bola Tinubu which was pasted on the wall of the Secretariat.
Before now the secretariat was initially opened for Ahmed Bola Tinubu during the presidential race by the governorship candidate when he was in the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party.
However, Muritala later decamped from APC to SDP when he could not secured the ticket of APC as the governorship candidate during the party primary.
Addressing newsmen on Sunday at the Secretariat, the running mate to SDP governorship candidate, Honourable Sam Abenemi described the attack ad unfortunate, pointing out that it has only helped soar up the popularity of the Party ahead of the November 11 governorship election.
According to him, some hoodlums had last week approached the security men at the campaign Secretariat to remove the Billboards and Banners of Asiwaju Tinubu/Shettima from the Campaign Secretariat.
” But it is important to State that the President Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu have been a mentor to our candidate, Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, a man he has looked up to as a mentor”.
” Because of his believe in the Asiwaju Tinubu Presidency, Alhaji Muritala worked tirelessly to ensure his victory in the State because he believed in his capacity to take Nigeria forward “.
” Alhaji Muri and the Kogi State SDP is resolutely in support of the success of the President Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s administration and will continue to pray for him to succeed”
” We urged all our supporters to remain calm in the face of all forms of provocation and to assure that we’re winning the November governorship election, reason why some people are scared and using intimidation”.
The SDP Deputy Governorship Candidate called on the security agencies in the State to fish out the perpetrators of the vandalization of the campaign Secretariat, expressed optimism that the party would win overwhelmingly in the forthcoming November governorship election.
