The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo has been commended for his unwavering support of the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency (KGCSDA) in its efforts to improve the welfare of vulnerable groups across the state.
At the second phase implementation of the Nutrition Project for Malnourished Children and Special People Group, held today at the Daratola Supportive Foundation for the Vulnerable in Lokoja, the General Manager of KGCSDA, Chief Momoh Dauda, expressed gratitude to the governor for his dedication to the cause.
Chief Dauda emphasized that Governor Ododo had not only given his approval for the agency’s continued intervention but had also provided essential backing to ensure the success of various support initiatives.
He called on public-spirited individuals and corporate organizations to contribute to the fight against malnutrition, noting that the issue should be taken seriously and addressed effectively.
“The governor has been very supportive of our agency, and we are grateful for his commitment to ensuring that vulnerable groups receive the necessary assistance. We urge well-meaning individuals and organizations to join hands in tackling malnutrition and providing care for special people in our society,” Dauda stated.
The Chairperson of the Malnourished Child and Special People Group Project Management Committee, Ms. Grace Jegede, also extended appreciation to the governor for providing a platform through which the agency can support vulnerable children and adults.
She urged stakeholders to sustain their support for the project, emphasizing that more efforts were needed to meet the needs of malnourished individuals.
In a goodwill message, the Chairperson of Kogi State NGO Network (KONGONET), Amb. Idris Ozovehe, represented by Mrs. Bola Ibiteye, commended the state government for funding the nutrition support initiative.
She pledged KONGONET’s continued support in ensuring that vulnerable groups receive adequate nutrition and care.
The Executive Director of Dual Communication Prevention Initiative, Pastor Rosline Alabi, whose NGO supervises the project, acknowledged the contributions of the governor and the agency. She noted that their support was instrumental in ensuring that funds were utilized efficiently.
“We appreciate the support given to this project, which is why we were invited to witness firsthand how the funds have been applied. The transparency and commitment demonstrated by the agency and the government are commendable,” Pastor Alabi remarked.
The second phase of the nutrition project featured the distribution of nutritional supplements to malnourished children and pregnant women, reinforcing the government’s dedication to improving child and maternal health in the state.
The nutritional component of the KGCSDA’s intervention is being funded under the Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus Programme(NG-CARES)
The event highlighted the continued efforts of the Kogi State Government to address malnutrition, support vulnerable groups, and foster community resilience.
With sustained intervention and collaboration between the government, NGOs, and corporate bodies, the plight of malnourished children and special groups in Kogi State is expected to improve significantly.
