…as contractor promise to deliver work in a week
The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on Sunday paid an unscheduled visit to the project site of the ongoing construction of the Lokoja civic centre where he expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work delivered so far
The Governor who similarly toured some other project sites urged governments and private organisations to patronize indigenous contractors and engineers noting that such a decision possesses great ripple benefits for local economy.
Governor Bello remarked that the civic centre was one amongst the several infrastructural facelift ongoing in the capital city of Lokoja in a bid to position it as the befitting capital of the confluence state.
He added that the government was undergoing numerous infrastructural projects which it intends to complete despite the meager funds available and the numerous obligations to its citizens and other financial demands.
In his remarks, the contractor of the project, Friday Idachaba commended the governor for trusting an indigenous contractor while he assured that the job will be delivered in a week.
He added that the civic centre has about 15 thousand capacity for regular sitters, 600 reserved VIP capacity sitters, a spacious car park, male and female convenience rooms, dressing rooms and other facilities as well as a Close Circuit Camera for security purposes and floodlights to enhance illumination for night activities.
