THE Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello on Monday received his Adamawa State counterpart, Alhaji Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who is in Kogi State to oversee tomorrow’s PDP primary election for the November 16th governorship poll.
Welcoming his guest, Governor Bello said his administration has transformed the state from headquarters of crimes to community of safety today through sustained investment in the security subsector of the state.
He said the peaceful conduct of the APC primaries last week was one of the testaments to the peace the state was enjoying, and noted his determination to ensure sustenance of peace and harmonious relationship among citizens of Kogi State.
The Governor said he has friends and associates who are members of the PDP who cohabit peacefully with their APC faithful, adding that his administration has been able to bring together the different ethnic groups irrespective of their religious beliefs.
Governor Bello added that because of his policy of the government of all-inclusion, he was also able to convert the state from a PDP – controlled state it used to be to an APC controlled one assuring of his determination to carry out policies and programmes that would bring further goodwill to the state and his party.
He said when he came on board, the state House of Assembly was dominated by members of the PDP but through an open-door policy of his administration, he was able to convert 90% of them to the APC noting that the state Assembly is 100% APC members today.
He charged members of the PDP to emulate the APC as they go into their primary election tomorrow in conducting the exercise peacefully.
Fintiri had earlier told Gov Bello that he was in the state with his team for the PDP primaries election scheduled to hold tomorrow and that it was customary to pay homage to the Chief Security Officer of the state even as he added that he was at home with his colleague, Governor Bello.
He assured Bello of peaceful primaries, stressing that the interest of the nation top the agenda of any political party.
