The Management of Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has released a list of activities to commemorate the eighth (8th) Convocation Ceremony of the thirteen-year-old Institution, which is scheduled to take place between Monday, October 21 and Sunday, October 27, 2024.
In a statement released to the graduands by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dr. Rebecca Aimiohu Okojie, the 8th Convocation Ceremony would be held to award Honorary, First, and Higher Degrees; Diplomas; and presentation of prizes.
According to the Registar, the programme would formally begin on Monday 21st October with a Press Conference by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi at the University Council Chamber, Felele at 10:00 am, to be followed later in the day at the Multipurpose Hall, Felele by the 2nd Annual Colloquium in honour of Professor Olu Obafemi, a distinguished Professor of Literary Art and Winner of 2018 Nigerian National Order of Merit Award, themed “Olu Obafemi’s Post-Feminist Vision: Drama Materialist Aesthetics, and the Nigerian Woman.”
The second day, Tuesday 22nd October, will witness the celebration of the FUL Founder’s Day at the University’s College of Health Sciences (formerly Adankolo Campus). On Wednesday, 23rd October, there will be a Research Fair/Exhibition at the same venue in the morning.
Other activities also outlined for the third day include Procession Rehearsal in the afternoon at the Mini Stadium, Felele Campus for Management, Provost, Deans and Directors, Deputy Registrar (Senate Affairs), Deputy Registrar (Exams & Records), Deputy Registrar (Student Affairs), Deputy Registrar & Secretary, College of Postgraduate Studies, Faculty Officers, and all Graduands.
The statement further stated that a Convocation Lecture on the topic “Nigerian Educational Sector: Issues and Challenges” would be delivered by Nahzeem Olufemi Mimiko, former Vice-Chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University on Thursday 24th October at the Multipurpose Hall, Felele in the afternoon, while the Convocation Play will take place in the evening at permanent site Felele.
