THE Olu of Oworo land HRM Mohammed Adoga Baiyerohi Agbosi II has vowed to protect his people from external interest especially unknown elements making frantic efforts to disintegrate Oworo land.
The monarch disclosed this on Friday shortly after the maiden edition of Oworo Traditional Council meeting held in his ancestral home in Jakura, under Lokoja Local Government of Kogi State.
The traditional ruler who was overwhelmed with the warm reception he received from his people vowed to protect and preserve the historic culture of the ancient kingdom.
The monarch who noted that the community his not free from bad external influence prayed that God almighty will help the community to subdue the nefarious plans of those against the peace of his land which according to him is detrimental to the development of his community.
Baiyerohi who acknowledge the abundant mineral resources in Oworo land and Jakura his ancestral home called on the Federal and State Government to invest massively in the community.
“Am appealing to traditional title holders in Oworo land to embark on aggressive sensitization. There is no organization or body that is not faced with crisis. The issues we are facing in our land can we resolved through our collective efforts.
“The only unfortunate aspect to some of the issues we are having in Oworo land are issues that is really preventable. But for selfish nature of human being, some people seized the opportunity of the existing crisis to derive their own immediate selfish benefit and they are the people flying the amber of disunity in Oworo land.
” I appeal to traditional rulers to see things without bias and be prepared to do more on sensitization and education just like the way it was done few days ago. People where surprise to hear some of the things they have been saying about me before them without bias.
” I will not say Oworo is absolutely free from external interest, that wants the downfall of this community. By the grace of God, our ancestors will help us destroy them” he added.
He however thanked the executive governor of Kogi State Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his effort in ensuring peace and harmony in Kogi state among the people stressing that, the menace of Kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry, herder farmers crisis, has become a thing of the past compared to other neighboring states in the country.
“Am using this medium to express my sincere gratitude to Governor Yahaya Bello for making the state very peaceful for us. When I was coming back to my ancestral home to lead my people, we never had any hitches, compared to what is use to be before in the state and other areas outside the state.
” Am also grateful to him for his effort in tightening the security of the state. It is just about few fays today you all gathered here for this auspicious meeting where we at gathered here to discus critical issues that affects Oworo community. I see it to be very historic because is a development coming out after liberation or what I would call enslavement.
” We have already gotten matching order from the government that henceforth, my operational base should be my ancestral home.
I would not have any kind of psychological barrier in taking a decision on what to do things”.
Adding their voices, the Obaro of Jakura HRH Usman Ajibola Adoga and the Obafaye of Oworo land Chief Sam Ranti Abemeni both described the meeting as historic stressing that the Olu’s presence would attract meaningful development to his people.
They however decried on the poor standing of leaving in the communities within the axis as they maintained that the land is currently faced with deplorable road network, lack of pipe born water, electricity and other social amenities.
It could be recalled that a ruling house some months back had written a petition to the State House of Assembly, calling for the removal of the monarch alleging some irregularities while in office.
But the petition was widely rejected and condemned by majority of the people in Oworo land including traditional rulers and title holders who unanimously passed a vote of confident on the leadership of the Olu of Oworo land Mallam Mohammed Adoga Baiyerohi Agbosi II.
It was however gathered that there are five royal lineages in oworo land. They are Okpoto of Ika, Akposi, Aba, Ajokpa, and Ajeto.
The native authority of Oworo land is Agbaja.
