The former group managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) of Dangote Cement, Engr. Joseph Makoju has been buried at his country home Karaworo, in Okene local government area of Kogi state.
Makoju died on Monday at his Abuja residence.
The burial took place on Wednesday at his residence at Chief Oyeyani Makoju street, Karaworo, Okene, Kogi state.
His wife, children, grandchildren and friends were present.
Some staff members of Dangote Group were also present at the burial.
Family sources had said Makoju‘s dying wish was to be “buried immediately without delay”.
Makoju was born on July 13, 1948 in Okene, Kogi state and studied mechanical engineering at the University of Nottingham, UK, where he graduated with first-class honours in 1972. He also bagged a master of philosophy in mechanical engineering in 1974 from the same university.
He served as special adviser on electric power to former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo.
He was also the GMD/CEO of Dangote Cement from 2018 to 2020.
