Tragedy struck at Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra last Thursday, when a 2-year-old boy of Global Growth Academy, Amokpo, Umuanunwa, Nteje was bitten to death during school hours by 11 dogs being reared by Uk-based proprietor of the school.
The minor, whose name could not immediately be ascertained, was said to have hailed from Anam, Anambra West local government area.
An eye witness said the nursery school pupil had accompanied one of their school mates on an errand into a compound opposite the school, where about 11 dogs belonging to the proprietor, Chief Chinedu Oka, were being raised.
The eye witness said that one of the dogs dragged the little boy to the 10 others that feasted on the boy to death, without anyone in sight to rescue him.
The rampaging vigilance youths from the community entered the compound belonging to the UK-based, Oka and killed all the dogs.
When an information officer visited the school, the premises had been deserted.
The remains of the burnt dogs were sighted on display at Ama Okpo village vquare, Umuanunwa Nteje.
The police at Oyi divisional headquarters, Nteje confirmed that some arrests had been made; those rounded up were already helping their investigation.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State command, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident, assuring that the situation was under control.
