The kwara state government has announced the total lockdown of the state as part of efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, (Coronavirus) in the state, starting from 6pm on Friday till further notice.
Announcing the lockdown of the state during the press conference, the State Deputy Governor and Chairman Technical Committee on COVID-19, Mr. Kayode Alabi in Ilorin today, said it is part of efforts to prevent the spread of the virus, following the official confirmation of two people infected with the virus in the state.
He, however said, Foodstuff sellers and operators of medicine shops and Banks would be allowed to operate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 10 and 2pm.
Alabi, however said as part of measures to ensure compliance on the new directive on the part of residents, said the Committee has incorporated all the security agencies as part of the enforcement team.
Alabi, also expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance by the people of Offa on the lockdown order placed on the town since Tuesday.
Chairman of the Committee in the state, however thanked the Federal Government for its support for the state in fighting the pandemic.
He urged Kwarans not to panic, but strictly adhere to all the safety measures on COVID-19.
