THE designated isolation centres for COVID-19 suspects in FAREC in Kogi State is in a state of delapidation and not equipped for the breakout of Pendemic.
The State government had designated two facilities-FAREC clinic and the State Diagnostic centre as isolation points for COVID-19 suspect.
Although no case of the epidemic recorded, the two centres are far from taking off as FAREC clinic is totally abandoned and in deplorable condition.
Our reporter during visit discovered that the structure is wear and tear from the entrance with part of the ceiling in the patients waiting section almost falling off, while other units require urgent facelift.
Also there is no personnel including even a security guard present at the center as all entrances to the diagnostic centre are under lock and key except for the small opening where the state personnel guiding the facility uses.
It was observed that a tricycle was parked at the entrance, while traders takeover one of the entrances to the facility.
One of the staff name witheld who spoke with our reporter disclosed that the facility is yet to be be put to use.
“We have not seen anybody bringing any equipment here. In fact the facility may looked completed from the outside but parts of the interior are yet to be completed,” he said.
A member of the COVID-19 committee set up by the state government who spoke in convidence with our reporter noted that no fund has been released to the team.
It will be recalled that the management of UBA recently donated the sum of N28.5 million to the state government as part of their contribution towards the Pendemic.
