A Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja has convicted two persons in Kogi State for vandalizing transformer and telecommunication mast.
One of the convict Abdullahi Umar in Suit Number FHC/LKJ/06c/2025 was found guilty and sentenced to two years and six months in prison for his role in vandalizing a transformer cable that provided electricity to the communities surrounding the Federal University Lokoja in Adankolo.
The other convict Yakubu Mohammed in Suit Number FHC/LKJ/05c/2025 received a sentence of one year and six months for vandalizing an Etisalat Telecommunication Mast Antenna in Okumi Community of Lokoja.
The Public Relations Officer of NSCDC in Kogi State DSC Aliyu Abdullahi confirmed this in a statement sent to our Correspondent on Friday.
Abdullahi argued that on February 13, 2025, the Federal High Court in Lokoja rendered judgments in two distinct vandalism cases.
According to the statement “The State Commandant of NSCDC Akinlade Esther praised the prosecution team, led by DCC Ike F. Ugochukwu, for their thorough and effective handling of these cases.
” Commandant Akinlade expressed her commitment to significantly curtail acts of vandalism against Critical National Assets and Infrastructures, as well as addressing criminal activities throughout the State.
“She equally called on the citizens of Kogi State to provide credible, apt and essential information that could assist the Corps in swiftly addressing lawlessness in every nook and crannies of the state”.
