THE inauguration of the Ajaokuta Presidential Project Implementation Team is expected to culminate in pushing forward the economic diversification agenda of this government.
The President General, Ebira People’s Association, Dr. Abdulrahman Musa Adeiza made this known in an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari commending him for bringing back to life the multibilion naira Ajaokuta Iron and Steel Complex in Kogi state.
According to him, this decision is a rare opportunity for the development of our national and local capacity, and the attendant socio-economic impact on the country, the state and the host community.
“There’s also the expected value chain, as it will address in enormous measures, the economic burden the country has faced these past years
“We are confident that the APPIT Committee is well constituted and will discharge its assignment diligently with the fear of God. This, hopefully, marks a paradigm shift from the non production economic based decisions of the past.
“We are equally hopeful that all agreements, contractual and otherwise, shall not fail to address the usual and statutory benefits to the host community, as it affects security, lands and other environmental factors,” the open letter stated.
It further added that this inauguration, which is a foremost step towards the diversification of the Nigeria economy, will be remembered in history, as an endurable legacy of this administration.
The group therefore commended Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals, the Federal Ministry of Justice and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, for their unflinching commitment to actualizing this feat, and the hardworking, competent and dedicated Sole administrator, Engr Sumaila Abdul-Akaaba whose resourcefulness and commitment have been deployed to advance the progress made this far.
“We also congratulate HRM, Dr Ado Ibrahim, The Ohinoyi of Ebira in whose land this economic break through is coming to reality for Nigeria,” it stated
