The Chairman Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic Idah, Rt. Hon. Adetope Ademiluyi has charged members of the council to be committed and key into the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration.
He gave the adviced during the inaugural meeting of the 13th Governing Council of the Polyethnic with the member of staff held at the Judith Attah Lecture Theatre.
According to him, President Tinubu is doing so much to improve the standard of education in the country pointing out that the only way the Mr. President can succeed is the responsibility for every one r to rally round his administration.
He also highlighted the need for all hands to be on deck, urging the management to brace up for more reforms aimed at repositioning the Polytechnic for better.
The Chairman equally appealed to the Management of the institution to work towards revamping the lost glory of the school.
The Rector of the Polytechnic Dr Yahaya Baba Usman in his welcoming address explained that the school has made tremendous progress academically under the current leadership of the institution.
According to him, the institution was established in 1977, Precisely 47 years ago, he noted that sinnce then, twelve Governing Councils as well as seven Rectors had served the Polytechnic before now, I am the eight on the Rector’s roll, this is the 13th Governing Council to the Polytechnic.
“During their tenures, the past Councils contributed enormously to the growth and progress of the Polytechnic. However, the Polytechnic is still yearning for development. There are many problems to be fixed, as there are many needs to be met
“The Polytechnic in recent times is adjudged the fastest growing Polytechnic in the sub Saharan African. But it is equally true that we operate with very learn finances,”.
He said he want to see the coming on board of the Chairman and Members of the Council as an opportunity for us to build a Polytechnic that will be second to none.
“I have no doubt in my mind that this Council is a composition of people of proven integrity. I also do not doubt that you were appointed by dint of your hard work and track records. And I have no doubt whatsoever that you will fix our problems to the best of your ability with the hope that you will leave the Polytechnic better than you have met it by the grace of God Almighty.
The Governing council led by its Chairman along side top management staff of the institution visited Attah Igala HRM Mathew Alaji Opaluwa oguche in his palace.
Odoma Attah Jacob Odiba who received the council onbehalf of the Attah in his Palace to seek his royal blessing thanked the President of Nigeria, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for appointing them to serve on the Governing Council of the Polytechnic.
He noted that it is a demonstration of the President’s commitment to the development of the Polytechnic.
“Even though the Federal Polytechnic is classified as one of the second generation polytechnics, the level of its infrastructural and academic growth still leaves much to be desired.
“I therefore urge you as patriotic Nigerians to join hands with the Rector to uplift the infrastructural and academic standard of the Polytechnic. It is worthy of note that the Polytechnic had been known and respected for high academic standard and discipline.
“I therefore encourage you to work not only to maintaining the standard but improving on it. All forms of examination malpractices, ‘monetization’ of examination results, and certificate racketeering should be discouraged. Ensure that the quality of your graduates remains a pride to all stakeholders.
“I want to assure you of my continued support and co-operation in the determination to move the Polytechnic to greater heights. You are free to call on me any time for advice and any form of support. Once more, you are welcome to Idah, the traditional seat of the Igala people.
