Tragedy struck on Sunday in Ibadan as a fully loaded gas tanker lost control and rammed into Bode Market at Molete Area of Ibadan, the Oyo State.
Number of casualties have not been ascertained as of time of filing this report. But an eye witness said he counted five dead bodies.
The truck, which was said to be heading towards Molete area, suffered break failure and lost control at around Idi Arere.
The driver was said to have tried in vain to bring the vehicle to a halt but it swerved into the market where it ran over some traders.
A resident of the area told our correspondent that security agents and fire fighters had arrived at the scene.
But the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Adewale Osifeso, could not be reached for comment on the accident.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state, Uche Chukwurah, could also not be reached as at the time of filing this report.
