Kogi State Commissioner for Finance, Asiwaju Idris Asiru will be the Chairman of the Ogidi Day Festival holding in Ogidi, Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi State on Saturday, June 19, this year.
Asiru, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) conveyed his acceptance of the invitation to the Ogidi Day Secretariat on Wednesday.
The Chairman gives overall strategic direction to the programme, deemed to be Nigeria’s biggest culture event in June.
Past Chairmen of the programme include former Health Minister, Professor Eyitayo Lambo, one time Managing Director of Daily Trust Newspapers, Akogun Isiaq Ajibola, former General Officer Commanding, 3 Armoured Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Julius Osanupin (rtd) and Chief Tunde Thani, a communication specialist and Chief Executive Officer of Explicit Communications Limited.
Before his foray into government, Asiru had worked meritoriously in the banking industry.
He has made great contributions towards the social and economic development of Isanlu, his home town and other communities in the state.
In accepting the invitation to Ogidi Day, the Commissioner said he saw it as an opportunity to join hands with the illustrious people of Ogidi towards the realization of their development aspirations.
