Arsenal have released a number of players ahead of the summer transfer window.
The club also confirmed that 13 players will leave the Emirates at the end of June when their contracts expire.
In a statement put out on Friday, Arsenal said: “The Premier League will shortly be announcing all men’s players whose contracts are ending with their current clubs.
“Our thanks and best wishes go to the following men’s players from our first team, under-18s and under-23s squads whose current contracts will officially end on June 30, 2023″
Zach Awe
Joel Ideho
George Lewis
Ainsley Maitland-Niles
Matt Smith
Tom Smith
“In addition, please note that Reiss Nelson’s contract also ends on June 30, 2023 and negotiations are ongoing. The following scholars will also be leaving us this summer at the end of their contracts”
Kaleel Green
Alexandar Kovacevic
Tino Quamina
Mathaeus Roberts
The most notable name on that release list is, of course, Ainsley Maitland-Niles. AMN began to garner first-team football with the Gunners when Mikel Arteta took the reigns late in 2019.
The midfielder was used in a variety of positions, including starting at left-back in the FA Cup final of 2020, which Arsenal won.
However, Maitland-Niles saw his game time reduced the following season and has since been loaned to West Brom, AS Roma and most recently, Southampton.
