We are writing this open letter to all Nigerians seeking as patriotic citizens the growth, development, peace and unity of our county to stay off the proposed national protest by some unpatriotic element who do do not wish this country any good.
Indeed it is true that our nation is today passing through one of its most difficult moments in our history, a moment whose cause cannot be attributed to the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu but a cumulative results of the bad administration’s and the attendant bad economic policies of the past,we must give the present administration the time and support to put things right.
The Nigeria of our dreams will only become a reality if we as citizens always think of ways to support the effort of our government at any turn to make things better for all. We also believe that God in his infinite mercy had placed before us a country blessed with all the abundant resources deposit in our soil and also above all the needed human resources that can efficiently contribute to make the country of the best country in the world but what we need now is not allow all the Oasis of evil being aggregated and galvanised to stop of our common road to development impede our road to development and growth.
We agree that things are hard and difficult today and there are no easy answers to solve this problems in a day but we should remember that this great country was built by the sweat, sacrifice and blood of our forebears. Rather than embark on a national protest which is indeed foreign to us as a people, we must now sit together as one people in support of our president who we know has the character and the experience to solve those problems.
The removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the exchange rate of the naira against other currencies and other economic policies put in place by this present administration were not meant to punish us as a people by the present Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration but a deliberate policies introduce to cure all the long time ills of our country.
Fellow citizens,we must see it as a bitter pills prescriptions we must swallow inorder to make our economy better not only for today but the generations yet unborn. We must sacrifice to make our country better just like our forebears who sacrificed their life fighting to make the country United. The proposed national protest which it’s organisers see as the route to show their discontent with the present state of things in the country must have worked recently in Kenya but we must not forget the End SARS protest in Lagos which was hijacked by miscreants, tugs and opponents of the government leaving with it sorrows and deaths. We must remember the words of the former president of Russia, Mikhail Gorbachev who at the heat of the crisis brought about by his introduction of the glasnost and perestroika economic policies of his administration said inter alia that ‘A pessimist is a well informed optimists”.
Today we are replicating this very word to you because we are optimist that our country will surely be better in the shortest possible time under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This assurance we give to you all and you can take it to the bank.
Finally, we are calling on you all both young and old, irrespective of religious and tribal considerations but as citizens of this great country to patriotically stay off the proposed national protest and give our elected governments at all levels the chance to solve all of the reasons attributed as the reasons for this protest.
The president must rather be commended for responding to the need for palliatives to cushion the effect of the hardship which the introductions of the policies had brought to bear on our people. This President knows our problems, he hears it clearly and he is working round the clock to bring succour to all and we must trust him.
Thanks you all.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
