The Association of Estate Agents in Nigeria (AEAN), Kogi chapter, has elected new Executive that will pilot the affairs of the association for the next two years.
The election was conducted during the association’s Congress held at Big Brothers Hotel on Saturday in Lokoja, with a total of 79 accredited voters.
Six out of the eight available positions were unopposed while that of Vice Chairman and PRO 1, were keenly contested by two Aspirants each.
Alhaji Abdulwasiu Muhammad was elected as the Chairman, while Alhaji Tajudeen Alimi emerged as Secretary, both unopposed.
Pst Adeolu Ajibade was elected as Vice Chairman with a total of 45 votes to beat his closest rival, Precious Oluwatosin Essenyi who scored 32 votes.
Mr Nwoko Samuel emerged as PRO 1 with 42 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Engr Ayenigba O.S, who polled 37 votes.
Pst Kenneth Adebayo emerged as Asst Sec.; Monday Adega Obaje as Financial Sec.; Mrs Salawu Olayinka Regina as Treasurer; and Mallam Muhammad Dauda as Welfare Officer, all unopposed.
The Chairman Election Committee, Alhaji Muhammad Ozigi Otokiti, who doubles as the Returning Officer, commended the members and all the aspirants for their spirit of sportsmanship.
Otokiti commended the Electoral Committee Secretary, Pastor Igwe Liberty and other members for their immense sacrifice in ensuring free, fair and credible election.
The Returning Officer while declaring the winners in the election, said “having fulfilled all the requirements of electoral committee, they are hereby declared winners and returned as duly elected Executive of AEAN, Kogi chapter.
“The new Exco will pilot the affairs of the association within the next two years”.
Otokiti charged the newly elected Exco to work together in unity towards taking the association to the next level for the benefits of her members
In his inaugural speech, the new Chairman appreciated the electoral committee for conducting a free, fair and transparent election, and congratulated other elected exco members.
Muhammad appreciated all the members of the association for electing him unopposed, and solicited for their continued support towards the progress of the association.
“We are going to work together in unity to ensure that we take this association to greater heights by the grace of God,” Muhammad said.
Earlier, the Elders Advisory Council leader, ESV Ayodele Ekundayo, urged AEAN members to continue to exhibit high level of intergrity and honesty in their profession.
“Our profession is based on integrity and humility, I want us to continue to imbibe the spirit of honesty and integrity in the course of discharging our responsibilities.
“I don’t want us to see this election as a do or die affairs but to see it as an avenue to serve the association with the fear of God,” Ekundayo said.
Other members of the advisory council who served as election observers included: ESV Ayodele Ekundayo, Alhaji Jimoh Asimi of Jimfash property, Mr Emmanuel Rieshola-Ejegi of Joe and Associates ; Alhaji Hassan Gimba of Samat Property; and Mr Ambrose Nwaubani.
Other members of the Elders advisory council like, Chief Anthony Ologun (the pioneer Chairman, Alhaji Arch Mohammed Danladi, Hon Sunday Mayaki and the incumbent chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Sirajudeen Abdallah, who were said to be unavoidably absent, also sent their good will messages.
