Senator Dino Melaye has accused the Kogi State government of haven hatched plans to assassinate him on the 8th or 9th of March.
The Senator representing Kogi West at the national assembly last week emerged the winner of the senatorial election having defeated two terms Senator Smart Adeyemi.
The senator who revealed this through his verified Twitter handle on Sunday that the Kogi state government was planning to assassinate him.
He however maintained that the plan will fail and asks Nigerians to take note.
“Kogi State Government planning to Attack me on the 8th or 9th of this month. You will fail as always. God is my defence at all times. Nigerians take note..”he wrote.
However, the Director General, Media, and Publicity to the Governor, Kingsley Fanwo described the allegation as false.
According to him,”It is false and unfounded. He should follow up the allegations with proofs if he wants to be taken seriously.
“That is what men of integrity do. We have decided not to respond to such blackmail and mind games by him.
How can you allege a Government is trying to assassinate you? It is spurious and unintelligent.”
The Director General said that “henceforth, we will demand for proofs at the appropriate quarters.
“Our efforts on securing lives and property have been hailed globally. He campaigned here in Kogi State freely. Nobody attacked him.
“The State Government is an institution that did not start with the present administration and won’t end with the present. We will do everything possible to protect the integrity and sanctity of that institution.”
