Kogi State CSDP, world bank spent N3.2B on rural infrastructure in Kogi

THE Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency (KSCSDA) has disclosed that the world bank in collaboration with the state government have spent a total sum of N3.2 billion on Rural Infrastructure development in the state .
The General Manager of the Agency, Mallam Momoh Dauda disclosed this at the 2-day training for members of the Community Project Management Committee of some benefiting communities across the Eleven (11) focal LGAs of the state held in Lokoja on Tuesday.
According to him, the partnership between the federal government, state government and the world bank in Kogi state in the area of rural development has drawn over N3.2 billion since its inception.
The General Manager who was represented by the Acting Finance and Administration Manager, by Mrs. Ebunola Berida, said “This money was expended on critical sectors in rural communities with a bid to reducing the poverty situation in rural communities in a sustainable manner using the Community Driven Development approach.

“The sectors of intervention include Water provision, Education, Health care, Electricity, Social Economy, Environment and transport”
He pointed out that the training was put together by the agency to train the CPMC members on elementary knowledge of project management and basic book keeping principles to ensure the community project are implemented in line with the Community Development Plan.
According to the General Manager, the agency also fund specialised intervention for gender and vulnerable groups, saying the gender and vulnerable groups component was designed to ensure that gender and vulnerable groups are mainstreamed in the activities of the community especially as it relates to Community development plans.

In his remark, the Acting Monitoring and Evaluation Manager of the agency Mr Ayo Oludare, disclosed that the world bank in collaboration with the state government would be expending over N400 million in 2020 to complete 40 micro projects in designated communities across the state.
According to him , each of the benefiting communities would have N10 million , adding that 40 communities would be supported with N400 million for projects intervention that would improve the living standard of the downtrodden.
“The micro projects cut across social and economic projects and some of the communities will embark on the construction of a block of two or three classrooms, primary health centre , water projects , construction of market stores and construction of town hall among others that will be of benefit to them.
“Before any community can benefit from the micro projects , the community must make counterpart contribution of 10 per cent of the first micro project. This contribution is not limited to cash alone it can be in kind and the balance in cash” he stated
