THE Federal Medical Centre (FMC) , Lokoja has inaugurated a 10 KVA Solar Panel Inverter to ensure uninterrupted power supply at all the Emergency wards of the hospital.
Dr Olatunde Alabi, the Chief Medical Director (CMD), FMC, Lokoja, at the inauguration ceremony on Tuesday said the initiative was to ensure uninterrupted power supply to critical wards
According to him, they include the Labour wards; Accident and Emergency wards for adult and the Emergency Pediatric Unit (EPU) for children.
The inauguration of the new power project was part of activities marking 20years anniversary of the centre.
Alabi stressed that the solar back up inverter would ensure effective service delivery to patients and also enhance the performance of staff.
”This is phase one of the project to cater for the emergency wards, and by the special grace of God, phase two would be coming very soon to cater for all other wards in the entire hospital.
”Phase three of the project would be the lighting of all the streets in the hospital with solar panel.
”What we have done is to first choose emergencies in the hospital such as Labour wards, the Accident and Emergency wards for adult, and the Emergency Pediatric Unit (EPU).
”This is to ensure uninterrupted power supply at all the Emergency wards in this hospital, and thereby give effective service delivery to our patients.
”My dream is that all the wards in this hospital would have this solar back up inverter,” he said.
Earlier, Mr Dominic Sunday, MD/CEO of Energy Lite Nig. Ltd, the Project Contractor, said the 10KVa Solar Inverter, was being powered by 20 panels, to cater for the immediate need of the hospital.
Sunday noted that the best quality standard and exceptional materials were used for the project, hence the three years guarantee instead of the usual six months guarantee.
”We will train the staff of the hospital to know how to manage and maintain the inverter so that it would serve them beyond the three years guarantee which our company has give the hospital.
”The Charger Controller for the inverter is a very massive one, to create durability and with capacity to subsequently power other departments,” he said.
End.
