Thousands of supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and residents of Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State over the weekend staged a massive solidarity rally in Okpo, reaffirming their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event, tagged the “One-Million Youth March,” was organised by the Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, and attracted party supporters, residents, traditional and religious groups, among others.
The rally turned the commercial town into a centre of political activities, with cultural performances, traditional dances and entertainment adding colour to the gathering.
Speaking at the event, Anyebe said the mobilisation was aimed at demonstrating the people’s support for the Tinubu and Ododo administrations while galvanising grassroots support for APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
He said the people of Olamaboro had resolved to remain united and support the APC at the polls, pointing to what he described as the achievements recorded by the federal and Kogi State governments.
Anyebe also pledged to continue working towards strengthening the APC in Olamaboro and other parts of the state, while expressing appreciation to government officials, party leaders, supporters, religious bodies and other stakeholders who participated in the rally.
The Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Mrs Comfort Egwuaba, commended the initiative, saying the mobilisation had fostered unity, solidarity and political participation among residents.
In a message delivered on his behalf, Governor Ododo assured the people of Igala Kingdom of his administration’s continued commitment to the development of the area.
The governor, represented by the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Umar Ali Yusuf, described the Igala people as a people of integrity and vision, assuring them of continued government support for peace, unity and socio-economic development.
Ododo urged the people to continue supporting APC candidates in the forthcoming elections, noting that sustained support for the party would help advance development in Kogi State and Nigeria.
He also commended Commissioner Anyebe for his efforts in strengthening the APC at the grassroots, particularly in Olamaboro, and assured residents that his administration would continue to partner with the local government to promote development across the area.
