In politics, elections may be won at the ballot box, but political dominance is sustained through leadership, unity and consistent engagement with the people.

In Kogi West today, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi has increasingly demonstrated these qualities, making him one of the strongest pillars of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Political parties often struggle after elections. Personal ambitions take precedence over collective interests, factions emerge, and supporters become disillusioned.

Yet, despite the challenges that naturally accompany politics, the APC in Kogi West has remained largely cohesive. This is not by accident. It is the product of deliberate leadership, continuous consultation and the ability of key figures like Senator Karimi to keep the party focused on its common purpose.

Since his election to the Senate, Karimi has not confined himself to legislative responsibilities in Abuja. He has remained visible at home, maintaining close contact with constituents, party leaders, traditional institutions, youth groups and women across the district.

His accessibility has strengthened public confidence and reinforced the belief that effective representation goes beyond making laws—it requires staying connected to the people.

Another defining quality of Senator Karimi is his commitment to party unity. At a time when defections and internal divisions have become common features of Nigerian politics, he has consistently encouraged cooperation among APC stakeholders in Kogi West.

His leadership has helped preserve the party’s structure and ensure that political disagreements do not overshadow the larger goal of delivering good governance.

His support for the development agenda of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has further demonstrated the importance of collaboration between elected representatives and the executive arm of government. When political leaders work together instead of engaging in needless rivalry, government programmes are more likely to achieve meaningful results for citizens.

Beyond politics, Senator Karimi has continued to identify with the aspirations of his constituents through empowerment initiatives, educational support and advocacy for projects that improve living conditions.

While no public office holder can solve every challenge overnight, the willingness to engage, respond and pursue solutions remains one of the strongest indicators of responsible leadership.

As the political landscape gradually shifts towards another election cycle, the APC will require leaders capable of inspiring confidence, mobilising supporters and protecting the unity that has sustained the party’s electoral successes. Senator Sunday Karimi has shown that he possesses these qualities.

His experience, grassroots appeal and organisational ability make him an indispensable asset not only to the APC in Kogi West but also to the broader political stability of Kogi State.

History has shown that political parties flourish when they are led by individuals who place service above self-interest and unity above personal ambition. Senator Sunday Karimi has continued to project that image. If he maintains this trajectory, his influence will extend beyond electoral victories to helping shape a more stable, united and development-oriented political culture in Kogi State.

The APC’s strength in Kogi West today is the result of collective efforts by many dedicated members. Nevertheless, Senator Sunday Karimi stands out as one of the principal architects of that strength.

His leadership continues to inspire confidence, and his political stewardship remains a valuable asset to the party and the people he represents.
