The management of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has reaffirmed its commitment to transparent, accountable and technology-driven revenue administration in support of the Kogi State Government’s ongoing fiscal reforms.

The assurance was given by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, when the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS), Dr. Sule Salihu Enehe, led the agency’s management team on a courtesy visit to the university.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Enehe said the delegation came to congratulate Prof. Usman on his appointment as the sixth substantive Vice-Chancellor of the institution and to strengthen the existing relationship between KGIRS and the university.

He described the Vice-Chancellor’s appointment as a recognition of his competence and leadership qualities, expressing confidence that the university would witness significant growth under his administration.

The KGIRS chairman also praised Prof. Usman’s achievements during his tenure as Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, where he said sweeping reforms improved academic standards, campus security, infrastructure and institutional discipline.

According to him, the Vice-Chancellor had already demonstrated purposeful leadership since assuming office at PAAU.

Dr. Enehe explained that the implementation of Nigeria’s new tax laws and Kogi State’s migration from manual tax collection to a fully digital Central Billing System were aimed at eliminating revenue leakages, improving transparency and boosting the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

He noted that an efficient tax administration system was essential for funding education, healthcare, infrastructure, security and other critical sectors, adding that tertiary institutions have enormous potential to contribute to the state’s socio-economic development through sound financial management.

Responding, Prof. Usman thanked the KGIRS chairman and his team for the visit and pledged the university’s continued support for the state’s revenue reforms.

He reiterated the institution’s commitment to transparency, accountability and prudent financial management, assuring that PAAU would align with government policies designed to enhance institutional efficiency and sustainable development.

The Vice-Chancellor also commended Dr. Enehe for introducing reforms that have strengthened public confidence in Kogi State’s revenue administration and expressed optimism that collaboration between the university and KGIRS would further improve service delivery and institutional development.

Also speaking, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Mohammed Suleiman Audu, commended former Governor Yahaya Bello and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for their commitment to strengthening public institutions in the state.

He described Dr. Enehe as an innovative administrator whose leadership had promoted institutional development and manpower capacity building, while calling for sustained collaboration between KGIRS and the university.

In his vote of thanks, the University’s Bursar, Mr. Abdulsalam Hudu, appreciated the KGIRS management for the visit and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to complying with the state’s revenue administration reforms.

The visit ended with the presentation and exchange of souvenirs as both institutions pledged to deepen their partnership in promoting transparency, good governance and sustainable development. Principal officers of the university, directors and senior management staff of KGIRS attended the meeting.
