The General Overseer of Chapel of Freedom International, Bishop John Ibenu, has called on Nigerian leaders to embrace visionary, God-fearing and sacrificial leadership as a pathway to restoring the nation’s lost glory and addressing its numerous challenges.

Bishop Ibenu made the appeal during a press briefing in Lokoja ahead of the 34th anniversary celebration of Chapel of Freedom International.

Founded on July 5, 1992, in Lokoja, Kogi State, the church has expanded steadily over the past 34 years, establishing branches across Kogi State and other parts of Nigeria.

Reflecting on the church’s contributions to society, Bishop Ibenu highlighted several humanitarian initiatives undertaken by the ministry, including free medical outreaches, scholarship programmes, borehole projects, food distribution and other forms of assistance to vulnerable members of society.

He announced that this year’s anniversary conference, themed “Born to Reign: The Supernatural Life,” will focus on empowering believers through teachings on wisdom, knowledge, prayer and family life.

According to him, the conference aims to strengthen participants’ faith, inspire purposeful living and equip them with the spiritual tools needed to succeed in all aspects of life.

The week-long event is scheduled to hold from June 29 to July 5 at the Chapel of Freedom International, Adankolo New Layout, Lokoja, and will feature renowned ministers from Nigeria and abroad.

Speaking on Nigeria’s current situation, Bishop Ibenu stressed that the country’s challenges could be overcome through leaders who possess vision, integrity and a genuine fear of God.

“If there is visionary, God-fearing and sacrificial leadership, everybody will fall in line,” he said, urging those in positions of authority to place the nation’s interest above personal gain.

The cleric also appealed to governments at all levels to intensify efforts to combat insecurity by creating opportunities and hope for young people.

He noted that providing meaningful livelihoods and a brighter future would reduce the attraction of criminal activities such as banditry and kidnapping.

He urged leaders to prioritise policies that promote security, economic empowerment and sustainable national development, insisting that a hopeful and engaged population is essential for lasting peace and progress.
