As the son of the late former Governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, the minister has combined youthful energy, strategic vision, and administrative competence in repositioning the steel sector as a catalyst for national development.
The creation of the Ministry of Steel Development by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signaled a renewed commitment to unlocking the enormous potential of Nigeria’s steel industry. At the forefront of this mission is Prince Shuaibu Audu, whose leadership has brought renewed hope to stakeholders across the sector.
One of the minister’s major achievements has been his relentless efforts to revive the moribund Ajaokuta Steel Company, widely regarded as the bedrock of Nigeria’s industrial aspirations.

One of the most notable recent achievements associated with his leadership was the groundbreaking ceremony for the 20MW mini-grid power project in Egume, Kogi State, described as the largest mini-grid project in North Central Nigeria.
The project is expected to boost industrial activities, improve electricity access, and support economic development in the region. He also commissioned other mini-grid projects aimed at expanding energy access to underserved communities.
Beyond infrastructure and investment, Prince Shuaibu Audu has maintained a strong advocacy for industrial policies that support manufacturing, job creation, and economic diversification.
