As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, conversations about leadership, representation, and performance have begun to dominate public discourse across Kogi West Senatorial District.

At the center of these discussions is Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, whose tenure in the National Assembly has attracted commendation.

However, when measured against the yardstick of performance, accessibility, and commitment to the people, it becomes increasingly clear that Senator Karimi deserves a second term not deniers, detractors, or distractions.

Democracy thrives when elected officials are assessed based on their contributions and impact rather than propaganda and political sentiments.

Since assuming office as the Senator representing Kogi West, Karimi has consistently demonstrated a commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to his constituents.

Through empowerment initiatives, educational interventions, infrastructure projects, and legislative engagements, he has shown a determination to justify the confidence reposed in him by the electorate.

One of the defining qualities of Senator Karimi’s representation has been his accessibility to the people. Unlike many politicians who become distant after elections, he has maintained regular interactions with stakeholders, community leaders, youth groups, and women associations across the district.

This close relationship with the grassroots has enabled him to understand the pressing needs of his constituents and respond appropriately.

In the area of human capital development, numerous beneficiaries across Kogi West have received support through scholarship schemes, empowerment programs, and employment opportunities facilitated by the senator.

These initiatives have not only improved livelihoods but have also strengthened public confidence in representative governance.
Senator Karimi has also remained vocal on issues affecting Kogi West and Nigeria at large.

His contributions to debates and national discussions reflect a lawmaker who understands the responsibilities of his office and is willing to advocate for policies that promote development, security, and economic growth.

Expectedly, no public office holder is immune from criticism.

Constructive criticism remains an essential component of democratic governance.

However, there is a clear distinction between genuine scrutiny and politically motivated attacks designed to undermine progress.

The activities of deniers and detractors should not distract the electorate from objectively assessing the senator’s achievements and potential for even greater service in a second term.

Continuity is often a critical ingredient for sustainable development.

A second term would provide Senator Karimi the opportunity to consolidate ongoing projects, expand existing initiatives, and deepen his legislative impact. The experience gained during his first term places him in a stronger position to attract more opportunities and deliver greater benefits to the people of Kogi West.

As the political landscape evolves, voters must focus on substance rather than noise. The choice before the people should not be between progress and distractions, but between proven performance and uncertainty. Leadership should be rewarded when it delivers results.

For many observers across Kogi West, the argument is becoming increasingly straightforward.

Senator Sunday Karimi has laid a foundation of service, representation, and commitment that merits continuity. As such, he deserves a second term—not deniers, detractors, or distractions.
