Former Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole, has commended the Kogi State Government for what he described as sustained efforts in improving workers’ welfare, civil service reforms, and prompt payment of salaries and pensions.
Kolawole gave the commendation while joining workers across the state to celebrate the 2026 edition of Workers’ Day, noting that the administration has demonstrated uncommon commitment to building a more productive and motivated workforce.
He said the various reforms introduced by the state government have helped to restore confidence in the public service, improve efficiency, and strengthen service delivery at both state and local government levels.
According to him, “The Kogi State Government has shown deliberate commitment to workers’ welfare through timely salary payments, pension reforms, and improved working conditions. These are critical steps that deserve commendation.”
Kolawole also urged workers in the state to remain dedicated and uphold professionalism in the discharge of their duties, stressing that productivity in the civil service remains key to sustainable development.
He further called for continuous collaboration between government and labour unions to ensure industrial harmony and further strengthen governance outcomes in the state.
Workers in Kogi State joined their counterparts across Nigeria to mark the annual celebration, using the occasion to highlight achievements, challenges, and renewed demands for improved welfare and working conditions.
