THE Kogi State Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Alhaji Mouktar Atimah says the party and candidate were never disqualified by the court as is been alleged, rather he said the matter was adjourned for ruling.
He gave the clarification following what he described as the imagination of those behind the planned disqualification of Barr. Natasha Akpoti, governorship aspirant.
According to the Chairman, the Social Democratic Party, is still in the struggle to correct the impunity by the Independent National Electoral Commission, disclosed that what transpired at the court was the electoral body asking for time to respond to the additional submission made by the SDP.
The SDP candidate was disqualified for fielding an underage Deputy governorship running mate according to the INEC.
But efforts to make substitution before the closing date proved abortive, as the electoral body said Barr. Natasha was deemed to have made an invalid submission.
This made her head to the court, seeking whether INEC has the power to disqualify her, a case that is before the high court, assured that SDP candidate would be on the ballot and would win the November governorship election.
The matter which came up yesterday at high court, saw the INEC according to Alhaji. Atimah asking for more days for it reply to some amendments in the suit.
The court he said adjourned till the 31st October, 2019 for ruling on the matter to determine whether INEC has the right to have disqualified her.
