Concerns Lokoja Elders Forum, (CLEFOR) have called on the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo to take immediate action to prevent any further attempts to undermine the authority of His Royal Highness the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV.
Addressing press conference on Thursday by the leader of the group,
the Shantali of Lokoja, Alhaji Bala Haruna, said they demand that the authorities uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of the Maigari of Lokoja.
He mentioned that the press conference is organised under the auspices of CLEFOR, in commemoration of HRH, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV, the Maigari of Lokoja’s, (Bagadhizi) one year on the throne.
His words, “You’ll recall that His Royal Highness, the Maigari of Lokoja, was presented with staff office by former Governor Yahaya Bello exactly One year today (16 January, 2024) in commemoration of this historic day, we decided to talk to through your widely read mediums.
According to him, It’s also meant to address some vital issues with regard to “Fake Etsu Nupe Lokoja” A Self Appointed King Without Kingdom” one Mr Emmanuel Dauda Shelika and his illegitimate Claims!
“The Maigari of Lokoja remains the sole, legitimate, and revered traditional authority in our city, with a rich history and cultural significance that spans centuries.
*As the paramount traditional ruler of Lokoja, the Maigari’s authority is unquestionable, and his leadership has been instrumental in promoting peace, unity, and progress among our diverse communities.
*We commend the Nupe elders of Lokoja for their swift response in distancing themselves from the illegitimate claims of Mr. Emmanuel Dauda Shelika.
“Their press conference, which debunked any role in the creation of Etsu Nupe, demonstrates their commitment to upholding the sanctity of our traditional institution.
“We urge all stakeholders, including the state government, traditional leaders, and the people of Lokoja local government traditional council to respect the sanctity of our traditional institution and reject any attempts to undermine its authority. We will not stand idly by while our cultural heritage is threatened by individuals driven by personal interests.
“We, the people of Lokoja, are united in our determination to preserve our cultural heritage and traditional institution. We will continue to promote peace, unity, and understanding among our people, and we will not be swayed by the selfish interests of a few individuals.
